Helping Hands

All of us believe that supporting good Causes is a responsibility of all good citizens, we also understand that in today’s challenging world, it is difficult to find the time.

However, devoting our lives to worthwhile actions, feelings and great thoughts is our choice. Choosing a sense of action that is worthwhile, focusing your thoughts on the important affections is an indescribable feeling that I personally wish upon everyone.

Now, sometimes situations which you would least expect turn out to be wonderful sources of inspiration.

Such situations, make us realise not to allow ourselves to be upset by small things we should despise and forget, but to focus on what really matters.

And what really matters is “Life”.

But isn’t it a shame that we humans often wait for sickness, tragedy or even death before we begin to get some real perspective.

Moving forward, when we find ourselves stuck in the same old pattern, is about helping ourselves to discover our incredible worth and uniqueness.

There are many ways of helping others. It could be by giving material goods or financial help. It could be lending a listening ear or just sitting beside the bed of someone sick. No matter the cause, we should help in our own unique way.

Remember, every good deed will not go unrewarded and as Jesus himself said:

“He who receives you receives me, and he who receives me receives Him who sent me.”

I have recently received a reward that is truly an ‘Honour’ and would love to share with you. The following is a message that actually brought tears to my eyes….

Linda Charlton June 30 at 2:24pm

Hi Marchi,

I am the President of the PNH Support Association of Australia and write to thank you for your kind support of our petition.

The name may sound fancy, but we are a tiny group of PNH patients trying to do whatever we can to get the Government to fund the only effective treatment for PNH.

The Association has a Facebook group page and we are promoting the petition online and on paper and so far have submitted 5500 signatures to Parliament. We are on track to submit a similar number again in about 2 weeks.

Thank you for including us in your blog and supporting me and the other 69 Australians with this debilitating disease.

Kind regards,
Linda Charlton

Save A Life

PNH (Paroxysmal nocturnal haemoglobinuria is a rare, progressive and life threatening disease in which the body’s red blood cells are destroyed. Without treatment, one in three people will die within five years.

Soliris, is the drug that treats chronic hemolysis (destruction of red blood cells), the underlying cause of the signs and symptoms of PNH. By blocking complement (one of your body’s defense systems), Soliris reduces hemolysis and therefore improves the symptoms and reduces the major health problems associated with PNH. It is also, the most expensive drug, costing $20,000 a month.

About 70 Australians have the rare and deadly blood disorder, and for the past five years 24 of those have been on a free US clinical trial of the drug.

However, when the Australian government refused to fund the drug under its Life Saving Drugs Program in the recent budget, the US pharmaceuticals company conducting the trials pulled the plug on the drug’s supply to Australian patients.

PNH patient Mark Filmer and daughter Tess. Mark is hoping peole will sign a petition to help presuade the gov't to fund expensive drug treatment required to keep him and other sufferers alive!

Doctors and patients have been lobbying the Government to have it listed on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme.

Now, you can support those Australian patients by signing an online petition supporting those individuals to have Soliris, funded by the federal government.

Sign the petition

We therefore ask the House to introduce and pass any legislation or to take any administrative action available to the House that will enable sufferers of PNH disease to urgently receive breakthrough life saving treatment for this very rare and debilitating disease.

This petition of Australian Citizens, who are friends, family or supporters of Australian sufferers of Paroxysmal Nocturnal Haemoglobinuria (PNH) disease, a rare and potentially fatal disease of the blood draws to the attention of the House the need to publicly fund out of the Federal Government, the only currently available treatment for PNH sufferers, namely Soliris® (Eculizumab) as a matter of urgency.

Sand and Stone….

SandAndStone

Saint Valentine’s Day (commonly shortened to Valentine’s Day) is an annual holiday held on February 14 celebrating love and affection between intimate companions. The holiday is named after one or more early Christian martyrs named Valentine and was established by Pope Gelasius I in AD 496. It is traditionally a day on which lovers express their love for each other

I, on the other hand, believe the love between two people should not be subjected to just one day of the year, but celebrated every day! Frankly, the thought of acting on such affection only once a year is terrifying.  They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, but then an entire life to forget them….

Two friends were walking through the desert and during some time of the journey, they had an argument; and one friend slapped the other one in the face.

The one who got slapped was hurt, but without saying anything, wrote in the sand, “Today my best friend slapped me in the face!”

They kept on walking, until they found an oasis, where they decided to take a bath….

The one who had been slapped, got stuck in the mire! and started drowning, but the friend saved him.

After he recovered from the near drowning, he wrote on a stone, “Today my friend saved my life!”

The friend who had slapped and saved his best friend, asked him, “After I hurt you, you wrote in the sand and now, you write on a stone, why?”

The friend replied, “When someone hurts us we should write it down in sand, where winds of forgiveness can erase it away. But, when someone does something good for us, we must engrave it in stone where no wind can ever erase it.”

Learn to write your hurts in the sand and to carve your benefits in stone.

Don’t Wake Up With Regrets….

Don'tWakeUpWithRegrets

Life is too short to wake up with regrets

So love the people who treat you right
Love the ones who don’t
Just because you can
Believe everything happens for a reason
If you get a second chance
Grab it with both hands
If it changes your life
Let it
Kiss slowly
Forgive quickly
God never said life would be easy
He just promised it would be
Worth it….
