For many centuries Christmas has been a time for the giving and exchanging of gifts, especially between friends and family members.
Though Christmas gifts are always a delight to open, you can make them even more meaningful, knowing that they reach more than just those you love. A gift of hope and cheer is truly unforgettable and wonderful. Christmas gifts are gifts that endure, gifts that will continue giving even after they have been given away.
But thanks to Target and Kmart, thousands of disadvantaged Australians will receive an unexpected gift on Christmas morning. Gift donations are placed under Wishing Trees located in stores, in readiness for distribution to people in need via the Appeal’s charity partners.
To participate in the Appeal simply place a gift (wrapped or unwrapped) under the Christmas Wishing Tree located at the front of any store. Take a gift tag from the Wishing Tree to specify the age and gender of a suitable recipient and place it with your gift. Gifts do not need to be purchased from the stores. The stores simply act as facilitators, enabling their charity partners to reach the wider public.
So lets join forces to help bring a little Christmas joy to disadvantaged Australians.
However, if the Christmas Tree Gift is not your kind of cause, you might want to take a look at one of the following charities:
Pack a shoe box with school supplies, small toys and other gifts with your personal note. The gifts are delivered to needy children overseas.
Grant the wishes of children with life threatening medical conditions.
Destiny Rescue is an Australian based foundation that reaches out to the children most in need across the world.
The Salvation Army: Christmas Charity
Donations provide Christmas dinners, clothing, and toys for families in need.
Play your part in stopping child abuse and neglect for good.

I wonder if that’s one of the reason that people don’t post comments? That even though you might like what someone writes, you’re not sure how to reply?

My DIL likes the little things. Here’s an example of what she likes, then you think of your DIL’S personality. My DIL wants gifts that are thought about. The unusual. She likes dogs, making candy baskets, and his in the computer field. Once, I bought her a two dollar toy computer, made a two dollar candy basket (very small LOL) and put doggie choc candies in it that I had made. I sent her a card saying, You looked stressed, I did my best, Hope this brightens your day, don’t know what else to say. My present looked goofy, my poem was worse, but what a kick she got out of it.
I know this answer comes a little late, and I know it seems a bit generic… but hand made cards have to be the best. Everyone loves the opportunity to be artistic weather in picture or word and express themselves… and everyone feels special when they get a hand made card. I’m not sure what you ended up doing, but in the future consider cards. God bless.
