First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they carried us and lived in houses made of asbestos.
They took aspirin, ate blue cheese, tuna from a can, and did not get tested for diabetes or cervical cancer.
Then after that trauma, our baby cribs were covered with bright colored lead based paints.
As children, we would ride in cars with no seat belts or air bags.
Riding in the back of a Ute on a warm day was always a special treat.
We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle.
Take away food was limited to fish and chips, no pizza shops, McDonalds, KFC, Subway or Red Rooster.
Even though all the shops closed at 6.oo pm and did not open on the weekends, somehow we didn’t starve to death!
We shared on soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually died from this.
We could collect old drink bottles and cash them in at the corner store and buy fruit tingles and some crackers to blow up frogs with.
We ate cupcakes, white bread and real butter and drank soft drinks with sugar in it, but we weren’t overweight because….
WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!!
We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on.
No one was able to reach us all day. And we were O.K.
We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. We built tree houses and bubby houses and played in creek beds with matchbox cars.
We did not have Playstations, Nintedo’s, X-boxes, no video games, no 99 channels on cable, no video tape movies, no surround sound, no mobile phones, no personal computers, no Internet or Internet char rooms….. WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!
We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no Lawsuits from these accidents.
We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.
You could only buy Easter Eggs and Hot Cross buns at East time…. no, REALLY!
Footy had try outs and not everyone made the team. Those who didn’t, had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!!!!
Our teachers used to belt us with big sticks and leather straps .
The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law!
The past 70 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.
We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned…
HOW TO!

HZFQfY I bookmarked this link. Thank you for good job!
If you have to do it, you might as well do it right.,
Very interesting site. Hope it will always be alive!,
Your blog keeps getting better and better!
I’ve been following your posts for a couple of weeks now and I gotta say that your older articles don’t offer as much insight as the newer articles. You have a lot more creativity and style now, your writing is constantly improving.
Keep it up! By the way, if you’re looking into placing some advertisements on your blog – you should really do it. Don’t go for all that 3rd party crap – Use a nice WordPress monetization tool coded by a buddy of mine which by far the best, it’s a must have plugin for any serious blogger.
The BEST ad manager for WordPress. You can find it at Thaidy.com/BestWordPressPlugin and give it a free test-run.
Oh, and there is a huge discount coupon in the sidebar of the mainpage!
Thanks for this super blog.
Beginning a site like yours led me to do some research and I found your post to be very helpful. My site is centered around the idea that you can starve cancer by stopping the angiogenic process. I hope of you good luck with your writing in the future and I’ll definitely keep an eye on you.
Anybody having problems viewing this in google chrome, it looks all messed up. **Edit** Just opened it up in IE8 and it worked fine.
